budapest.boats collects as little about you as a website can. This page explains exactly what happens to your data when you read our guides, click a booking link, or email us — in plain English, because a privacy policy you can’t read protects no one.
What we collect ourselves: almost nothing
This is a static website. There are no user accounts, no logins, no comment forms, no newsletter database, and we set no cookies of our own. Reading our pages does not create a profile of you anywhere on our side. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical server logs (such as IP addresses and requested pages) for security and operations, as virtually all hosting does.
Third-party content: GetYourGuide widgets and analytics
Some pages embed GetYourGuide booking widgets, and the site loads an analytics script. These third-party components may set their own cookies and process data (such as your IP address, browser details and interactions with the widget) under their own privacy policies — for the booking widgets, that’s GetYourGuide’s privacy policy, linked in this page’s sources. We don’t control that processing and we don’t receive personal data from it; what we see is aggregate statistics, never you as an individual.
Affiliate links
Booking links on this site (our /go/ redirects) carry our GetYourGuide partner ID so that a booking can be credited to us, as described in our terms of use. The link tells GetYourGuide that you arrived from budapest.boats; it does not tell us who you are. Anything you then enter on GetYourGuide — name, email, payment details — goes to GetYourGuide, not to us.
When you email us
If you write to contact@budapest.boats, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and we use it for one purpose: answering you. We don’t add you to any mailing list, and we don’t share your address with anyone unless you explicitly ask us to (for example, to forward a complaint to an operator).
What we never do
- We never sell your data. There is nothing to sell.
- We never buy data about our readers or combine data across sources to profile you.
- We never send marketing email. If you get one claiming to be from us, it isn’t.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Given the setup above, the honest answer is usually “your emails to us, if any” — and we’ll delete those on request. Send rights requests to contact@budapest.boats and we’ll respond within the statutory deadline. For data processed by GetYourGuide or the analytics provider, exercise your rights with them directly under their own policies.
Changes
If our setup changes — say, we ever add a newsletter — this page will change with it, and the date at the top shows the last revision. Questions about any of this are welcome via the contact page.
